Having a meat shield is a solid strategy but at a certain point, a strong 5 person alliance is a strong 5 person alliance, you have to ask yourself ‘am I bringing meat shields to post merge or am I protecting an alliance that will run the game if left unbroken?’ Haley and Nina have to recognize that they are at the bottom of the meat tray and bringing ALL FOUR OF THEM to merge is about the dumbest thing you can do! If I were them I would simply have flipped!
#survivor au#australian survivor#This season is going to be like blood vs water all over again if something is not done about this alliance#you need max 2 shields#any more than that and youre setting yourself up to be a sacrificial lamb

Tobiuo 飛魚 (トビウオ)
Snail's One Piece OC.
Overview
Extended
Name: Tobiuo “Flying Fish” (Pronunciation: “To-bi-yo)
Race: Fishman Class: Fighter Crew: Heart-Pirates
Pronouns: She/Her Age: 28 Height: 7’2
Appearance: Skin is a cool blue palette, accents of teal and pastel pink in sunlight. Her hair is a dark navy colour, almost like squid ink. Under unnatural UV, raised spots and diamond-shaped scales glow like bioluminescent coral.
Peculiarities: Has gills on her face and neck, her eyes have no pupils, her tongue is barbed, and her teeth are pointed. Has webbed hands and feet, has webbed ears that triangulate out like fins of a flying fish. She cannot speak above water, her voice was not made to carry in air (her kin are of greater depths: Down Under). She uses sign language (Auslan), and will whistle to bring attention to her so she can communicate. Her voice can be heard under water, but it is far easier to communicate through sign. She is also amphibious.
Love interest: Heat (Kid-Pirate Crew Member)
Heart-Pirate History: Was found by Trafalgar Law, Bepo, Shachi and Penguin entangled in barbed nets close to Sabaody Archipelago in a state of panic, frantically attempting to claw herself free. She was heavily injured as she fought her way off a courier vessel bound for the auction house, but has no memory of how it occurred. A slash mark of a blade on her outer thigh was the only remaining injury that healed over in a raised welt of silver. The courier vessel was destroyed, Tobiuo was the sole survivor of both manned crew and slaves for auction. Most of the Heart-Pirates understand her sign after a few months, and use it to their advantage to communicate at greater distance, or in silence while attempting to remain stealthy in covert operations.
Role: She is Law’s security officer, hand to hand and tridents are her specialties. Considering Law is a Devil-Fruit user, she is on retrieve duty if he falls overboard.
Fighting: Fishmen are stronger, faster, and tougher than humans: Tobiuo is no different. She much faster under water, more deadly and lethal. May become worked up into a battle-like frenzy and overcome with rage (Berserker) in the heat of fight. This numbs her to pain until after the battle is over.
Personality: Physically quiet due to her mutism above water, but has a bright sense of humor and is highly expressive with her body language and sign. Is very much akin to a older sister to the crew, and will scold with an arched brow and purse of her lips if she witnesses them behaving recklessly. Loves to laugh, dance and tease with the crew. However, if the crew tease and prod too much, she will pick them up as if they weigh nothing and confine them to quarters until they apologise - or simply hover them over the side of the Polar Tang and threaten to drop them in the ocean while they flail wildly.
Notes: I love Auslan (Australian Sign Language). I learnt Auslan "key sign" for work, and have used it since with my family. Tobiuo is a reflection of my love and respect for sign, and I adore her.

Between Your Wings - Chapter 1: Supply Run
Series Masterlist
Chapter 2
Pairing: Daryl Dixon x female reader x Rick Grimes (slow burn)
Please comment, like and share
Twenty-nine days.
Twenty-nine days since the world ended, and the dead came.
Twenty-seven days since you have lost your adoptive parents, Elliot and Olivia, in Atlanta.
Twenty-seven days since you've met two brothers, Merle and Daryl Dixon.
Twenty-five days since the three of you met other survivors and made together a camp outside the city.
Twenty-nine days since the world went to shit.
"Hey, find anything?"
You looked over to your friend, Glenn as he tugged on his backpack over his shoulder while walking toward you.
"Just a couple of comic books for Carl, and a couple of water bottles," you answered as you put the books in your backpack.
Since you made a camp outside the city, you volunteered to do supply rans for the group to grab some stuff from inside the city, and your new friend that you made at the first day at camp was Glenn, he volunteered to go with you.
So, the both of you would go to the city a lot, but this time you brought a few people along which you thought wasn't the best idea.
So, you all agreed that you and Glenn would look inside a few stores while the others would wait on top of the office building. While you were away from the camp, the kids in the camp, especially Carl, Lori's son, were watching over your puppy Max, an Australian Shepherd dog which you received from your father on your 21's birthday a month before the outbreak.
"What about you?" you asked, walking to the exit with Glenn. "Found something?"
"Just a couple of cans, oh, and got you this." You looked over and saw him digging into his backpack. He pulled out a sketch book, and you smiled as he held it out to show you. "Got you three more, and a couple of pencils and markers."
"You're the best," you complimented.
Glenn grinned as he put the sketch book back into his backpack, "I try," he said as he zipped his backpack.
Bang!
You both paused immediately when you heard gun shots. You glanced at Glenn and quickly stepped out. Glenn closed the door after you and you both ran to the staircase that leaded to an alley.
You peered over and saw a young man dropping from his horse and shooting around at walkers. "What's he doing?" you hissed.
Glenn didn't answer and you didn't expect an answer, both of you watched the man crawling under the tank. "What is he doing?" Glenn asked now.
"Dumbass," you muttered as you peered down and around nervously as walkers crawled around the now dead horse and the tank.
"Look, look," Glenn said as he tapped on your shoulder. You quickly looked back at the tank and saw the guy opening the hatch and shoot a walker near him before closing the hatch again. "What do we do?"
"We got to help him," you said. You unzipped your backpack and pulled out your CB Walkie. "We can't just leave him like that."
"Can you connect it to the radio in the tank?" Glenn asked as you zipped the backpack and stood up, playing with the walkie.
"Let's find out," you muttered yet you were confident you could. A few seconds of silent and you got statics. "Guess my nerdy skills still handy, huh?"
"You didn't hear me complaining of your awesome skills yet, right?" he said, and you felt your cheeks heating up by the compliment.
You cleared your throat before speaking into the Walkie, "Hey, you. Dumbass. Hey, you in the tank. Are you cozy in there?" There was no answer, so you tried again, "Hey. Are you alive in there?"
"Hello? Hello?"
You glanced at Glenn and spoke in relief, "Good, you had me wondering for a second, thought you were dead."
"No, I'm still alive. Where are you? Outside? Can you see me right now?"
"Yeah, I can see you," you answered as you moved around Glenn and stepped to the side, "You're surrounded by Walkers. That's the bad news."
"There's good news?"
You glanced at Glenn and then away, "...No."
"Listen, whoever you are, I don't mind telling you I'm a little concerned in here."
You frowned as you looked at the walkers, "You should see it from over here. You'd be having a major freak-out."
"Got any advice for me?"
You looked at the area as you answered, "Yeah, I'd say make a run for it."
The man in the radio paused before speaking again, "That's it? 'Make a run for it'?"
You rolled your eyes and spoke, "My way's not as dumb as it sounds, you've got eyes on the outside here. There's one Geek still up on the tank but the others have climbed down and joined the feeding frenzy where the horse went down. With me so far?"
"So far."
"Okay, the street on the other side of the tank is less crowded. If you move now while they're distracted, you stand a chance. You got ammo?"
"In that duffel bag I dropped out there, and guns. Can I get to it?"
You shook your head lightly, "Forget the bag, it's not an option. What do you have on you?"
"Hang on," he said and there was a moment of silent. "I've got a Beretta with one clip, 15 rounds."
"Make 'em count. Jump off the right side of the tank, keep going in that direction. There's an alley up the street, 50 yards. I'll meet you there."
"Hey, what's your name?"
"No time for the introduction," you said, "Move, you're running out of time."
The radio cut off and you looked at Glenn, "Okay, go back to the others, I'll be right there."
"What? Wait, I'm gonna go with you."
"Glenn, no time. Go! I'll be fine."
You turned and jumped off the stairs. You ran around the corner as you heard more gun shoots. You reached to the alley and ran to the end.
The guy you saw ran around the corner, shooting walkers around before pointing at you. You quickly held up your hands, "Don't, not dead!"
He lowered his gun, and you nodded back to where you came from, "Come on! Come on!" You both ran into the alley as the guy continued to shoot walkers. "Stop shooting, you are getting their attention!" You called.
You climbed up the ladder and he followed. You reached to the top and looked at the guy when he got up. You looked down under the ladder and saw the Walkers gathered around it, trying to reach for the both of you.
You let out a breath and looked at the guy, "Nice moves there, sheriff. You the new one who come riding in to clean up the town?"
"It wasn't my intention," he said.
"Yeah, whatever," you said and pointed at him, "You're still a dumbass."
The guy held his hand out, "Rick. Thanks."
You glanced at his hand and shook it, "Audrey. You're welcome. But don't do that shit again. Just saying."
Rick let out a soft chuckle and nodded, "I'll remember that."
You peered down on the ladder before up at the roof. "Well..." You looked at Rick, "The bright side, it'll be the fall that kills us." You shrugged and climbed up the ladder and he followed you.
"Did you barricaded the alley?" he asked, his tone in his voice was impression as the two of you ran to the building.
"Can't take the credit, somebody did," you said, "I guess when the city got overrun. Whoever did it was thinking not many Geeks would get through."
You opened the hatch as he asked, "Back at the tank, why'd you stick your neck out for me?"
"Call it foolish, naïve hope that if I'm ever that far up shit creek, somebody might do the same for me," you said and threw your backpack before you looked at him and shrugged, "Guess I'm an even bigger dumbass than you." You climbed down the ladder, and he followed and closed the hatch.
You grabbed your backpack and pulled it on your shoulders before you both ran to the back door of the clothing store as you spoke into the CB walkie, "Guys, I'm back with a guess and there are two walkers in front." You paused and held your arm out to Rick to stop as you looked at the two Walkers near the door. They turned and slowly walked toward you.
But then, the door opened, and Morales and T-Dog, came out with protective gear and baseball bats, beating the two Walkers in the heads. "Let's go!" you told Rick and ran to the door with him following behind.
"Morales, let's go!"
T-Dog and Morales ran into the building and closed the door. You turned to see everyone except for Merle there. You looked at Glenn in relief before at Andrea when the older woman pushed Rick to the wall and aimed her gun on him, "You son of a bitch. We ought to kill you."
"Just chill out, Andrea," Morales told her, "Back off."
"Come on, ease up," T-Dog told her.
"Ease up?" Andrea repeated, "You're kidding me, right? We're dead because of this stupid asshole."
"Andrea, hey, stop!" you said and moved between them. The gun was aimed to your chest instead of Rick's. "Enough. Or pull the trigger."
Andrea let out a shaky breath as she lowered her gun immediately after you said it. She glared over your shoulder at Rick and shook her head, "We're dead. All of us. Because of you."
"I don't understand," Rick said.
Morales walked up to Rick and leaded him away with you following, "Look, we came into the city to scavenge supplies."
"You're okay?" Glenn asked you quietly as you followed behind.
You nodded and gave the older boy a small smile, "Yeah. I'm okay."
"You know what the key to scavenging is? Surviving. You know the key to surviving? Sneaking in and out, tiptoeing. Not shooting up the streets like it's the O.K. Corral."
You all stopped at the window doors, and you saw the walkers were trying to get into the store, growling. "Every Geek for miles around heard you popping off rounds," T-Dog told Rick.
"You just rang the dinner bell," Andrea told him.
"Get the picture now?" Morales asked.
A few of the walkers were attempting to smash through the double set of doors to get to you all, and you stepped back.
"Oh God."
"What the hell were you doing out there anyway?" Morales asked.
"Trying to flag the helicopter," Rick answered.
"Helicopter?" T-Dog repeated. "Man, that's crap. There ain't no damn helicopter."
"I saw it," Rick said.
Morales turned to you, "Hey, Audrey, try that CB. Can you contact the others?"
"Others?" Rick asked as you held up your CB walkie. "The refugee Center?"
"Yeah, the refugee center," Glenn told him sarcastically. "They've got biscuits waiting at the oven for us."
You shook your head, "Got no signal. I'll try again on the roof."
There was a gunshot from above you on the roof and you looked up in annoyance while everyone else was freaking out. "Oh no," Andrea said, "Is that Dixon?"
"What is that maniac doing?" Morales asked.
"I'm going to kill Merle," you said in annoyance as you ran to the door, and the rest followed you. You got quickly to the roof to Merle and saw him shooting at walkers. "Merle! Cut it out!"
Merle stopped and turned to you as Morales shouted at him, "Hey, Dixon, are you fucking crazy?!"
Merle chuckled, "Huh? Hey! You ought to be more polite to a man with a gun!" He jumped off the edge of the roof, walking toward you. "Huh? Ah! Only common sense."
"Man, you wasting bullets we ain't even got, man," T-Dog told him, standing in front of him. "And you're bringing even more of them down on our ass! Man, just chill."
"Hey, bad enough I've got this taco-bender on my ass all day," Merle said, pointing at Morales. "Now I'm gonna take orders from you? I don't think so, bro. That'll be the day."
"'That'll be the day?'" T-Dog repeated. "You got something you want to tell me?"
"Hey, T-Dog man, just leave it," Morales told him.
"No," T-Dog told him.
Rick stood beside you and looked at them in confusion. He turned to you, and you shook your head to not get involved in it.
"All right? It ain't worth it. Merle, just relax, okay? We've got enough trouble."
"You want to know the day?" Merle asked.
"Yeah," T-Dog told him.
"I'll tell you the day, Mr. 'Yo', it's the day I take orders from a nigger," Merle told him.
"Mother--" T-Dog started, throwing a punch at Merle, but Merle grabbed T-Dog's arm, and hit him with the rifle.
T-Dog fell to the floor as you called out, "Merle! Stop!" You shouted with Andrea but Merle punched Rick and Morales when they tried to get him off of T-Dog.
Merle kicked T-Dog in the sides a few times, punching him in the face, pulling out a gun, pointing it in his face. "No, no, no, please," Andrea told him. "Please."
Merle spit on T-Dog's shirt, rubbing it, "Yeah! All right!" He stood up, moving away. You, Glenn, Morales and Andrea moved to T-Dog's side, and you helped him to sit up. "We're gonna have ourselves a little powwow, huh? Talk about who's in charge." Merle pointed the gun at all of you. "I vote me." He held up a hand. "Anybody else? Huh? Democracy time, y'all. Show of hands, huh? All in favor? Huh? Come on." You all slowly held up your hands. "Let's see 'em. Oh, come on. All in favor? Yeah. That's good. Now that means I'm the boss, right? Yeah. Anybody else? Hmm? Anybody?"
You saw Rick approaching him from behind, "Yeah."
Merle turned around, and Rick hit Merle over the head with the rifle, making him fell to the ground. Rick handcuffed Merle to a pipe as he yelled at him, "Who the hell are you, man?!"
"Officer friendly," Rick told him, grabbing Merle's gun, "Look here, Merle. Things are different now. There are no niggers anymore. No dumb-as-shit, inbred white-trash fools either. Only dark meat and white meat. There's us and the dead. We survive this by pulling together, not apart."
"Screw you, man," Merle told him.
"I can see you make a habit of missing the point," Rick told him.
"Yeah?" Merle asked, "Well, screw you twice."
Rick pointed the gun at Merle, using his words from earlier against him, "Ought to be polite to a man with a gun. Only common sense."
"You wouldn't," Merle told him, "You're a cop."
"All I am anymore is a man looking for his family," Rick told him, "Anybody that gets in the way of that is gonna lose. I'll give you a moment to think about that." Rick went through Merle's pockets, pulling out something, "Got some on your nose there."
Rick stood, walking away.
"What are you gonna do?" Merle asked. "Arrest me?" He chuckled. Rick walked to the edge, throwing what he found in Merle's pocket. "Hey! Dude, what are you doing? Man, that was my stuff! Hey!" Rick walked to the other side and Morales slowly followed him. "If I get loose, you'd better pray--Yeah, you hear me, you pig?! You hear me?!"

Apocalypse
♥ song of the story OWN MY MIND -maneskin
gif from @yonglixx ⚠: mentions of zombies: mentions of blood and death; mentions of Felix killing zombies; mentions of his family being dead(I'm sorry 🙏 its for the plot); mentions of readers family being dead(sorry again) ⚠: can be considered a fluff story if you don't mind the theme ⚠: Survivor Lee Felix x Survivor fem reader (she/her) ⚠: In this AU skz doesn't exist, meaning, that Felix doesn't know any of the members.
panting could be heard from the girl hidden in a long ago abandoned house.
"ahh, shit-" she breathed under her breath, exhausted from running, punching, and killing all day. She started searching carefully throughout the house, carefully to not make too much noise, walking and finding things that might be helpful. After putting all the things she found in the middle of the room, things such as cans of fruits and food, screwdrivers, knives, soap, and ladies' necessities, she decided to choose what she exactly needed and go on a run outside, maybe find some abandoned shops or hopefully a pharmacy, as she was in a new city.
while walking she stumbled across an alley and decided to go in it to rest, as she did not see or hear any of those horrifyingly disgusting creatures she sat down close to one of the big metal trash bins, fortunately for her, it did not smell that bad, as it has had not been used for at least 5 months. while she carefully opened one of the food cans she found, she suddenly heard something, or rather someone walking. Scared she rapidly put the can down and got up with her knife to kill who was coming next.
"hey- woah, woah, mate slow down, I'm peaceful!" he whisper shouted while putting his hands up making her put the knife down and look at him with a serious face. "I'm warning you if you try stealing from me, I won't hesitate to murder you," she said sternly while sitting down and starting to eat from the can. But he continued staying on guard next to her. "what are you doing?" she looked at him weirdly but he doesn't say anything, only smiles and sits next to her, after approximately 2 minutes the hands him the other half of the can that she didn't finish intentionally. "eat" she said not looking at him. "woh thanks!" he exclaimed and smiled brightly "didn't eat something non expired in ages haha" her face fell after hearing that. How, how, what happened here. she thought while slowly peeking to look at his shadowed dirty face. poor guy was all she could muster in her thoughts. "want more?" she looked at him while handing him another can, now with a different type of food. " no, no, I can't, it would be too much! I don't have anything in return!" he said while shaking his hands showing that he meant it. "No, really take it, I have more, found a house, 30 minutes away, very quiet no monsters, and it has a lot of food. maybe you would want to come with me, you know, two is better than one," she said while scratching her back of the neck.
"Really?- are you joking with me? because if not I'm coming!" he smiled while sitting up and holding his hand to her. As she took it, first time making skin-to-skin contact with the stranger she felt a spark in her heart and worms in her stomach, no she felt butterflies, she shacked her head gently and started to walk a little bit in front of him to lead the way.
On their way to the house, they chatted and found out that his name was Lee Felix, an Australian. They encountered 3 zombies too but decided to just run off, as it was night time and they wouldn't be seen.
Arrived at the house she shows him around, and he helps her to patch the broken windows and unnecessary rooms.
While searching for a good room Felix found a basement, the basement of the said house, deciding to investigate right then, as it was night and the zombies were mostly asleep and easier to kill. Big luck for them was that inside was only one, a guy, the owner of the house they declared. After y/n killed it and Felix helped by dragging it outside the house in front of the yard and throwing it on the fence, as protection from other fellow zombies, because if they smelled the blood of the said zombie on the fence they would pass the house and not get in even if heard any sounds from inside. Of course, it would smell bad but good thing that the smell didn't get too close to the house.
After rearranging the whole basement, meaning, getting all the things in the living room, then putting on a big bed for two inside the room, of course, cleaning it very well. They might have been in the apocalypse but to be clean still helps. good thing the basement was as big as the house, large enough to put some of the kitchen and bedroom furniture down, creating a little house, sadly inside the basement was only the installation for water, not the toilet too, so the bathroom remained inside the house. Not too big of a problem as the house looked like it never been touched by the filthy hands of those zombies.
"few, we're finally done!" Felix said happily while slumping on the bed."ey get your dirty butt off the bed, you need to change and shower....." she realized that the water from the bathroom didn't work anymore, only the one in the basement, the reason being that the installation was made so that water will work even without electricity, but that only in the basement. " haha shit, we got to wash with cold water" she sighed as she plopped next to the bed resting her back on the bed leg next to a now floor sitting Felix. A Mess It Grows - LS18, OP81
Pairing: Lance Stroll x Oscar Piastri (Maplescotch)
Summary: Following Lando's win at Miami, an insecure Oscar heads to his hotel room to regress. One of his boyfriends follows suit to comfort him the only way they know how.
Warnings: Angst, fluff, kink themes (petplay/animal play), sfw intimacy, hurt/comfort, mentions of polyamory, use of pet names
A/N: Crosspost of my fic from my ao3 (inlovingmemory) and also my first fic here. Maplescotch is such an underrated ship and one of the few I would actually die for. (Mainly bc I'm a sucker for ships only I care about) Enjoy.
-
The checkered flag waved as crowds clad in orange and black began their frantic frenzy. 8 seconds ahead of the 3-times World Champion, for several laps. The rows upon rows of fans under the Florida sun were livid at the sight. Could it really be? A car the color of papaya-orange crossed the finish line for the first time since 2021. But an Australian wasn't the winner. Not this time.
No, that Australian was at Toro Rosso now. AlphaTauri. RB. Whatever they were called, it wasn't Red Bull or McLaren. He was stuck situated behind a Sauber and would likely be his same, bitter, old self after the race.
Yet, there was one Australian today who got the shorter end of that stick. One younger, yet dressed in the same ol' familiar orange and black. Bright, exhausting orange like his car. The one cameras paid no focus on: Oscar Piastri. Driver for McLaren, Alpine survivor, and 2 seasons into F1. Drove his car off for podium place until Carlos collided his Ferrari into the papaya boy.
Front wing damage. No penalty. Late leaving the pit stop from repairs. Forcibly having to settle for 13th place with no points. Losing his place late in the race while Lando was having the time of his life.
Oh yes, Lando. Lando Norris.
There's not much the Aussie could say about the Brit. They were teammates, they were competitors. Nothing more, nothing less than that. They got along, admittedly, only because Oscar knew they had to.
Being at Alpine years ago, he witnessed the opposite firsthand. His long-term boyfriend, Esteban Ocon, had been the subject of several cutthroat backtalk and altercations involving fellow Frenchman Pierre Gasly. Sly remarks full of snark and internal gossip with mean looks, or full on fights in private. It would get nasty, almost catfight-ish. All Oscar could do was sit back and watch like a child of divorce, until he'd have to later comfort and ice Ocon's bruises.
The Aussie knew any teammate relationship could turn sour like theirs at any time. No matter how long or how deep their bond went, a budding rose always came to grow thorns. He's seen the contempt boil and bubble, masked behind the Frenchmens' PR-fueled, artificial smiles for social media. Pierre's faux-friendliness on and off-camera had targeted him too, coming from someone who desperately wanted to lure the young driver in despite knowing Esteban's warnings. Even the most enticing of snakes prepped their fangs.
But Lando wasn't like that.
Atleast, that's what Oscar hoped. Since switching his colors from Alpine's sugary, teeth-rotting, cotton candy-esque light blue and pink to a more vivid orange, the relationship between the two Anglophones had since been short of amiable. Sure, maybe they weren't constantly at eachother's throats - and maybe Oscar should've been grateful for that - but they weren't the best of friends either. Or friends at all. An air of stillness had settled between them since they first met in the same garage over a year ago, growing like a thick fog.
McLaren and F1's social media could paint the papaya pair like two peas in an overwhelmingly positive pod as much as they wanted, but all it did was make them look good. Good. Marketable. Two young drivers ready to take on the whole grid, overwhelmingly clad in black and orange. A World Champion-in-the-making and a former rookie who seemingly locked together like two puzzle pieces. Landoscar, the fans called it. Soulmates, everyone viewed it.
If it were that easy, maybe Oscar would already be attached to the hip of the Brit. Maybe Lando - for how much he flaunted his shamelessly hedonistic lifestyle as if it were his sole personality trait and thought inside that hollow head of his - would atleast make the effort to include and invite him to stuff once in a while. It's not like Oscar was begging to go to his teammate's pretentious parties across Europe, full of high-class randoms several leagues above him. Full of people he didn't know nor could care less about him or his relationships. Instead, Oscar usually kept quiet, only bothering to smile and make small talk when McLaren needed them to. Even when the cameras weren't rolling, it was never like he asked the Brit time and time again to be besties, although sometimes he wish he did.
Lando wouldn't have to pretend to reach out to him after their social media shoots, pretending to be interested in him and his life. The Aussie knew deep down his teammate, for how dull he proudly was, was playing the same games he was, tricking the media and inadvertently, Oscar aswell. People already thought they were the "bestest" of teammates compared to the other, far more infamous pairs on the grid. The thought made Oscar shiver.
Even his boyfriends, despite the bias against them, were never the subject of tabloids as much as the Brit was. If anything, his two lovers being disliked helped keep their relationship out of the spotlight - yet it only made the vipers of paparazzi focus solely on Lando and Oscar. Labeled as 'friends', an 'ideal couple,' despite the younger man already having special people (who were also on the grid) in his life. But God help him for actually thinking journalists payed attention to what was true.
Maybe he wouldn't be constantly compared to Lando - more than he already was - if they actually were good friends like the news said. Oscar was just a former rookie in the eyes of his team and the media, but Lando was a proven, soon-to-be World Champion. Every step he took, praise followed like a trail of gold. His own red carpet. Even the cameras were too bright, Oscar was almost blinded despite how far he was shoved out their view.
In regards to the times where he, or perhaps where McLaren allowed him to, shone, he was restricted to playing 2nd. Times where he could've helped the team gain points were never considered when they focused on his tanner teammate to earn another podium. Oscar would have to stick towards the back end of the race, feeling too insecure to look at his manager in the eye in the garage. A disgustingly sick feeling in the pit of his stomach that he'd grown familiar with. And as he predicted, this strategy (or lack thereof) happened again today.
Except Lando was a race winner now.
-
The heat of the Miami sun rested upon Oscar's back as he begrudgingly exited the cockpit, his fireproofs and suit on fire as he ripped off his helmet. What a horrible race that was, just his luck to go from top 4 to being the loser in a challenge with Carlos. The Spaniard seemed to collide with him, giving him damage to his front wing as he'd end up losing his place. Sure, he was able to get back in the race and set the fastest lap so he'd gain something out of it, even if it was to just end up behind an Alpine and out of points territory. But it didn't really mean anything when he had his race ruined and McLaren couldn't care less about him.
From where he currently was in the garage, God Save The King blared in the distance, like a thought he couldn't truly escape. If he were a little more patriotic, he'd find it nauseating. But even if he wasn't, it still was. Everywhere he went, it seemed to remind him that he'd never be good enough. He'd never be like him in their eyes, only a liability. Feeling sick again, Oscar ran and tried finding the nearest bathroom, far from the McLaren garage. Far from the podium. He couldn't bear to deal with the strategists and members of the team crowding his way right now.
It was his day. Lando's day. It always was.
Stood proud on the podium were the same three that usually stood there: a McLaren, a Red Bull, and a Ferrari. A Brit, a Dutchman. and a Monegasque. The sun's golden glare made them looked blessed, like a trio of angels. Oscar couldn't bother to look from behind his back, ignoring the barrage and sea of voices and lights blinding and deafening him if he did. But they weren't for him, not all of them. It didn't matter. The spotlight was focused on something - rather, someone - else, and he needed to leave. Fast and unbothered. His hotel couldn't have been that far from the track, especially when he was sure some of the other drivers were headed their way there also after the race ended.
Especially the two he knew, who he shared a room with. Who he always shared hotel rooms with, discretely under the guise of being a "group of best friends." Whatever people thought, Oscar needed them. Particularly in this moment, when his head began to feel too heavy for him to support himself. When he needed to be away from the masses and fall into a special sort of headspace only they knew about, behind closed doors. Those special, intimate moments.
After having to do some careful finding in the garage and stripping of his fireproofs, Oscar grabbed his phone and immediately went to his contacts. He's changed enough out of his race suit and back to regular McLaren merch that he could sneak back out to the paddock. In such a fast amount of time too, seeing how the rest of the papaya crew was still too focused on throwing Lando around. Then again, Oscar was rushing in a hurry and practically gone ghost once he situated his cap.
Most of the drivers on the grid stayed at the same hotel for certain races, their team executives booking them months in advance. They were never usually that far from the track or paddock either, for the teams convienence. Such was the case for Miami, where Oscar currently padded open the resort's luxerious doors in an urgent manner. Did McLaren need him right now? Probably, if Lando's win got boring to rub in. Would Oscar head back to attend? Nope.
As the Aussie went to dial the number labelled, "Lancey," in a strike of coincidence, life decided to serve itself to him for once. Meeting eye to eye with the Canadian again off track, the taller male's expression went from one of surprise to worry. The concern seemed to rub off the younger man, as evident by how Lance was able to pick up on it quickly.
"Osc, what are ya' doing here? Shouldn't you be at McLaren's garage?"
Nothing. No response. All he received was a big, brown-eyed stare from his dark brown eyes into his. Lance's worry seemed to grow tenfold at his boyfriend's out-of-character silence. Something must've been really wrong, his race must've gone pretty bad. Lance knew his wasn't great either, but Oscar handled his more deeply.
The Canadian looked down with his own dark eyes, reflecting a vulnerable Oscar in them like a mirror. His voice almost cracked, bringing a hand to grip his tightly as he pulled them towards the elevator. Oscar wasn't even aware that the button for their floor was clicked, and soon they were off.
"I'll- I'll need to phone Esteban as soon as possible, tell him he needs to come back immediately. He's—" Lance's voice trembled, as if he had something stuck in his throat. This ride was taking too long, goosebumps forming on skin from pure nervousness.
Seemingly noticing, Oscar rubbed his head of fluffy peanut-brown hair against his side. He looked up into the eyes of his boyfriend, and felt the Canadian's nerves rapidly calm down. Realizing what kind of care Oscar needed now, the taller man spoke again, this time much more clearly.
"Esteban, right. Este is uhm, busy with Fernando right now. He'll be back soon, hopefully with some food. But I might need him to come quicker, especially since you're going into err—" Oscar pawed at Lance's sweater, cutting his train of thought off again. Feeling concerned yet a little more relaxed now, he laughed. Their elevator had reached their floor. Lance heard Oscar whine a little at how hard he gripped the Aussie's hand while walking over to their room door.
"Pupspace." A smile bright as the morning sun spread on his features. Oscar's followed as he laid put on the velvet floor, restlessly pawing at his feet.
He would've preferred if he had brought a leash to Aston Martin's garage, or perhaps if Esteban did to Alpine's. It would've made his job a lot easier, yet it's not like he could've predicted Oscar would regress this soon. Or this severe. Or Nando potentially finding it on accident. That would've been one hell of an embarrassing talk.
After some fumbling with the lock of the hotel door and Lance's strangely large quantity of keys, the door finally let loose. The Montrealer squatted down near the Australian, exchanging a gentle glance and offering his hand to help him back up to his feet, although only to walk him inside. Oscar's weight felt like a bag of thick rice, needing all of Lance's support to be carried inside as if he couldn't use his legs anymore. Granted, that was because he couldn't. He wasn't "grown" enough to do so currently.
The lights of their hotel room were turned down low, a nice warm orange coating everything. Enough time had passed that the Miami sun had begun to set, its luminous colors bleeding through the large glass windows and fine curtains as it dipped into the horizon. The sight almost made Lance sleepy, almost falling into a drowsy state before realizing he was carrying someone much sleepier already.
Setting Oscar aside on the nearest couch, he kept his head up as the Aussie looked at him with pleading eyes. Wanting warmth and attention now that they were behind closed doors, he whined again, in a higher pitch than last time. Lance couldn't help but chuckle, hands on his hips as he returned some sass.
"Alright alrighty, Butterscotch. I'm trying to be fast for ya, but you're asking quite a lot!" The mahogany of the Canadian's lively eyes reflected back onto Oscar's, who couldn't help his cheeks grow pink like bushes of roses. The younger man watched from his place, sat on the couch, as Lance looked around their temporary living space for a few moments. Almost urgently so.
When finished, he had a familiar leather collar wrapped in his hands. Oscar's eyes went wide at the sight. Unable to keep his excitement down, he reached his thin paws out in a 'grabby' motion and yelped. Yip yapping away. Another laugh escaped Lance, who rested a rough hand on Oscar's shoulder. "Who knew Esteban and I had such a needy, impatient puppy..."
"But I shouldn't mock you this much, especially when ya need this more than me right now." Despite his outward manner and physique compared to the Aussie, the Quebecker's hands were quite gentle as he began wrapping the accessory around his partner's neck. Oscar, of course, stayed still and soaked in the attention like a sponge. Feeling the black and orange-accented leather lock into place and hearing his name tag (which simply read: "OP31, replies to 'Oscar' or 'Butterscotch.' If found, return to Stroll or Ocon.") jingle, he finally relaxed. The bad thoughts from earlier were beginning to drain out.
Not bothering to change either of them out of their team merch, Lance pulled his pet into his grip with one arm. Oscar fell immediately into his chest, pawing at it before circling around to settle himself down more comfortably. Lance gazed down, petting the fluffy caramel-brown hair between his fingers as he pressed a kiss on the Australian's nose bridge.
"You're a good boy, Osc. A good pup." Lance paused, looking away from the chocolately love in Oscar's eyes to his own fingers. Fidgeting and flicking them around, he felt a certain paw mess with it. Lance felt a familiar pair of eyes look back up at him again.
"I'm just— sorry. Sorry for you. I just feel bad that, well, ya know. Lando, Carlos, or whoever, ruined your race today."
A high pitched whimper followed in agreement as the younger man laid his head against the chest of Canadian, opting to lay against the armrest as he waited for their other partner to come home. Oscar took in his partner's scent as he laid on his side, curled up in his arms. Faintly smelling like maple with hints of pecan pie. A cold Autumn breeze over the warmth of a thick cotton scarf.
"It wasn't your fault. I know your mind will tell you otherwise, but I won't. I know, I know..."
Oscar was more than upset about the earlier drama and results, but wouldn't be lying if he admitted that he couldn't care anymore. Fortunately fleeting away, then gone in the wind. Was almost like a near memory that he since brushed off once returning home.
Home where he could unwind, where he could be his true self. Where he could no longer worry about the race or any sort of grid drama. A home where he could be with physically, no matter where he went. Melbourne, Suzuka, Shanghai, Miami...
He was safe at home. Safe, secure, and warm. Home meant comfort, but it also meant security. Private, yet seeked fun. Home never judged him for letting his walls down, or anything else really. Home made him feel seen. Feel loved. Acknowledged.
Lance was home, Oscar's home. Nothing could change that. Nothing would. He wore dark green, but loving him was red.
And so were both of their cheeks currently, mutually flushed as they pressed against eachother. Lance wasn't sleeping, no, but he was surely entertaining himself as he watched Oscar try not to. Yet a peck to the cheek helped his senses kick in, as he giggled and licked at the Montrealer's face.
Smiles were exchanged once more, Lance couldn't help but keep playing with the silk of Oscar's hair. The younger man melted to the touch, rubbing against him in an attempt for more petting. His collar seemed to be a bit too tight for his skin, causing a noticeable red mark around his neck. He had his hands available, but seemed to prefer Lance's help.
"I just wish they came to some sense, ya know? Carlos, I mean. I— I don't understand him."
The Quebecker stood up, causing the reaction of his little spoon to do the same. Oscar fell to the floor. Knobby knees against the velvet carpet as he stayed on his fours. Lance stood to stretch, leaning down to pet the Aussie as he walked towards his temporary water bowl. Tapping the side twice, Oscar skittered across obediently. Lance's train of thought continued again as he leaned against the wall, watching Oscar lap up his water.
"There's always gonna be those types of people on the grid, the ones that want you gone. I've been through it, so has Esteban. Even Lewis."
Oscar stayed put on the floor, sitting crissed-cross with his two front hands infront. Water ran from his face down his chin. A noticeable stain now soaking the collar of his papaya-orange polo. He turned his head to the side at Lance's words, whining an octave louder. Brown eyes staring.
"I know what it's like to constantly be compared to your teammate too. You— You have to survive with it in this sport, unfortunately."
Lance adjusted his posture, squatting on the floor before standing up on his knees. Unlike Oscar, he wobbled, only stabilizing himself with a hand behind him on the floor. He pat at his thigh, whistling as he locked eye contact with the Australian, before bringing him in a tight embrace.
"You don't deserve any of this, Butterscotch. None of this. I'm sorry."
The Canadian's grip seemed to fasten against Oscar's skinnier body like a death grip. As if he didn't want to let him go, or let him breathe. Oscar rested his head the broad of Lance's shoulder, hands splayed on his lover's back. He didn't know where else to leave them.
He felt Lance's hands curl into the caramel of his hair, like milkweed silk between his rough fingers. Oscar closed his eyes, huffing before shaking slightly. His breath stuttering as his chest heaved, feeling like the weight of several stones. Was he crying? He can't remember the last time he did that, especially over a race. Over Lando. Over Carlos. Over everything and anything. Lance hugged him tightly, shushing him as he felt cold tears stain his sweater.
A nearby phone on the coffee table began to ring. Lance's phone. Must've been Esteban.
They let it play, ignoring the ringtone repeating before it eventually ended. They didn't need to move for the world, to wait for others. All Lance needed to do was pay attention to his puppy. His pet. His lover. His Oscie.
It was his night. Oscar's night. It always was.
Atleast to Lance. Esteban too, but only one of them was present. That's all that mattered. Oscar had people that cared, spotlight or not. Race winner or not. Unruined race or not.
Before he knew it, the Australian felt lightheaded. And light. His sopping eyes opened once again as streams littered his face, his blurry vision turning around to notice he wasn't on the floor anymore. Lance was carrying him in his arms, bridal style now. It made Oscar feel small. Vulnerable. Safe. Too deep into headspace and his own insecurities to feel anything but like a puppy.
Looking up, the younger man was met with dark brown eyes meeting his gaze. The Canadian nodded, allowing Oscar to use his sweater to wipe his tears. He pressed a kiss to the bridge of Oscar's nose again, before laying him in the marble of their hotel room's bathtub. His soft yet coarse hands made quick work of the leather collar around the Aussie's neck, rubbing the slight red it left behind.
Mercy coated Lance's eyes, as he sighed yet still gave a gentle smile. His cheeks lightly budding pink like a bush of hibiscuses. Oscar turned his nose up, smiling back in a toothy grin that went up the corners of his face. Face redder than salmon roe. Lance gripped his delicate hands, bringing them to his lips for a kiss. His skin was soft like the rest of him, yet he smelled his strongest here. Like oranges and vanilla.
Lance leaned against the tub, slowly taking off each of his dear's garments. Maybe Oscar had his hands available, but he was too deep into headspace to speak — let alone strip himself. The toffee of his eyes stayed locked onto the Quebecker, purring as he went limp. Even if Oscar could take care of himself, Lance knew he needed him now. And now was all that mattered.
At the final piece of clothing, Oscar's boxers, Lance paused. His hands moved up the pale of the Australian's body to cup his cheeks, moving his thumbs against them in a soothing motion. Lance looked down at him, gentle, serene. Oscar let him do anything, and he was glad he trusted him that much. Like a puppy to its owner. A vulnerable animal to its caretaker. He pressed one final kiss to his soft, pink lips. He tasted like sorbet, Lance's favorite.
They locked eyes once more before Lance's train of thought continued. His faint voice finding itself again.
"Let's— Let's get you cleaned up, Scotchie."

With Artfight very soon I though it was about time to post about some of my ocs!
Introducing: Murphy!!
SKETCHS HERE!!!
Nora Murphy is a whole 5ft of mutant soldier trauma and caring.
The short:
S:5, P:7, E:8, C:10, I:3, A:7, L:2
Toughness, Lifegiver, rad resistant, refractor, admantium skeleton, animal friend, inspirational, local leader, rifleman
BOS main, contractor for the minuteman, deacon only minor contact with the railroad, hates the institute
Good, helps people, very anxious, terrified of becoming a monster. Unlucky.
Is a mutant: can fly, quick heal / tough, but needs to eat a lot, restricted to night by being nocturnal, shunned by many
Companions: Danse and Preston mostly, sometimes nick, befriends all of them at least a bit.
Heritage: white Australian
The long: Lore \/
The long:
Fallout 4 ‘Sole survivor’ oc, but in my Mutant AU where vault 111 was a dual experiment creating super soldiers by forcing animal DNA on people with some twisted results (Murph is very lucky to still look mostly human with wings), basically fallout 4 but with a bunch of extra side quests to fight or help her old neighbours in various states of mind.
She is Australian! From NT, Which kinda sucks in fallout universe since most countries had fallen well before the bombs ever fell, Australia was absorbed by USA for its abundance of uranium and strategic proximity to china! She and Nathan (Nate) were accepted as military refugees into the us army about 2065, where they were in power armour core together her as a soldier and him as a mechanic. They were married shortly before where they both get injured in an explosion, Nathan much more so as Murphy was in power Armor at the time. They are discharged, Nathan for injury and Murphy for being pregnant with Shaun. Bombs fall etc.
She is mutated with sooty owl DNA by Vaulttec in an attempt to make an extremely mobile stealth night operative, which didn’t go entirely to plan! While she hardier than normal, capable of flight and is reasonably stealthy she is also now limited to night ops by being nocturnal, daytime is way too bright and painful for her to be in without eye protection! She also struggles to be awake in the day. She also has other negatives from the mutation such as lost intelligence, needing to eat way more food, being smaller than she used to be, and being shunned or shot at. The mutation forces each of the residents to cocoon and liquify into their new forms!
She has so much military trauma, from being in the Aus army when they get demolished by china and then by USA fighting china to take control of Aus, by being acquired by the us army, being a ‘volunteer’ for the power Armor testing, seeing fellow Aussie soldiers get treated poorly in the army, having to participate in the mandatory war crimes, her and Nathan getting badly injured in anchorage, the horrors of war etc.
Personality wise she is very people oriented and will put people before the goal often, extremely charismatic which is the only reason she hasn’t been shot multiple times by just about every faction 😅. Very anxious even before being mutated, but is positively a nervous wreck now, is ok at hiding it. Soldiers training helps a lot to shift into mission focus but is not sustainable in the long term as she finds out! Worries about being a mutant and is terrified of becoming, or being seen as a monster so she is very restrained in her combat, how she moves and speaks, rarely yells or fights first. Will go out of her way to help people as has become the go to helper for many people against her will such as the minuteman, the other mutants and various other people she has helped. She has a very broad definition of person much to Danse’s + the BOS’s chagrin. Has multiple mental breakdowns throughout the story. Privately thinks she deserves to be hated and hunted from a combination of BOS rubbish, military trauma at the awful things she has done as a soldier both pre and post war, and just all round ruined self esteem. Banter is a core part of her speech, if an Aussie is mildly insulting you they think you’re neat!
Pre war was 5’6”, post mutation is 5’ with 15’ wingspan, is not happy about suddenly being a lot shorter. As a morning person naturally the shift to nocturnal is extremely difficult to her, dislikes having to wake people up constantly and feels bad about it. (She feels bad about everything really). Jury-rigs some aviators goggles sunglasses so she can tolerate the sun slightly better, is not a fan of the day anymore, feels too exposed and dislikes flying in the sun.
BOS as feels the familiarity of being as soldier as that’s all she’s ever been for the past 17 years (her perspective excluding the ice nap). Unknown to her, Danse is instructed by Maxon after arcjet on to recruit her so they can study her, and use her as a political pawn with the minutemen and mutants, because by the time she goes to Cambridge she is already reasonably well know and tentatively liked in the commonwealth. (Don’t worry I love both Danse and Maxon as characters so they are not reduced to 1 dimensional jerks!) over time though she befriends Danse as he is assigned to her as her ‘sponsor’ (observe her for study and make sure she makes BoS friendly decisions), mixed feeling in the BoS when she is made knight by Maxon to say the least! over time she becomes a great friend and asset to the BoS and Maxon realises one day the he no longer intends to go through with his original secret plans.
Since she spent so much time in power armour prewar, and Nathan was a power armour mechanic, she knows quite a lot about it! And is very unhappy that she physicaly cannot wear it anymore!
Physically she is small wiry and very hardy from the mutations. Though she can’t wear armour due to its weight and her small stature so she needs to be tough! Important appearance features are she is short, lots of freckles, gap in front teeth, rather flat face, prominent eyebrows, eyes that are too big and yellow from the mutation, shoulder length thick light brown hair that’s messy or braided, she is lean, pear shaped, and has a wide gait. Prefers baggy clothes and will layer over the vault suit / bos uniform. She rather suntanned / leathery and freckled from spending a lot of time outside pre war. She has a prominent set of vertical scars over her left eye from anchorage. She has barbed wire tattoos around her arms above her elbows on both sides. wings connect to her body like having a second set of shoulders.
Absolutely has no cold tolerance from the double whammy of being a Northern Territory Aussie (winter is like 17c here) and cryosleep trauma! Layers clothing wherever possible. Being very cold brings bad memories.
Left leg gets messed up in a nasty fight later, can’t really run much anymore, so is a lot more reliant on flying and her friends, scar on her stomach from stacking it badly on her bike as a kid.
Despite being highly charismatic keeps messing up and emotionally hurting her friends (everyone needs to grow as a person in my fanfic I’m trying to write and that includes messing up in relationships and subsequently repairing the relationship stronger)
Uses laser rifle from Danse that’s modified to be scoped and extra light, carries a combat knife on her person at all times out of habit, before meeting Danse was using 10mm but prefers long range without power armour, which she can’t wear anymore. Her and Sturges whip up some rudimentary comms for her, which later she and danse improves so she can use them in flight without the wind noise making her illegible.
Tends to horde / carry / eat any food she finds since she needs to eat so much and doesn’t want to be a burden on anyone else, most of the time her very limited caring capacity is atleast half food. Has very few clothes because of the time and effort required to modify them, gets a modified bomber jacket later and basically never takes it off again cause bloody hell Boston is cold compared to Aus.

Do you have any new-ish (within the last 5 years) WLW shows or movies to recommend?
new this year: deadloch (amazon) is an australian scandi crime parody-esque? (there is literally no word for whatever this show is, just feel the vibes). main character is a lesbian with a wife in a small tasmanian town filled with lesbians.
new last year: yellowjackets (paramount+) is a 90s/current parallel story about a high school girls soccer team whose plane crashes in the wilderness and the aftermath that lingers in the survivors' adulthood. there are at least 2 lesbians, though whatever is going on with a few of the others is, uh, pretty gay also. fair warning: lots of death, also cannibalism, and also death by cannibalism. i started watching this show by accident because all the gore was thoroughly hidden behind filtered tags. season 1 is great, season 2 is good-ish.
a league of their own (amazon) is a remake of the movie, but explicitly very very very very queer. it got cancelled after the first season, then renewed for a half baked number of episodes to end it, and now it's stuck in strike limbo.
new two years ago: vigil (bbc, i think it's on peacock in the us) is a uk crime thriller about a murder on a submarine. the main character is a detective who gets sent to investigate the murder, her partner is also her girlfriend. season 2 is about to air in the uk. the main character is also played by suranne jones, who is also in gentleman jack.
new four years ago: gentleman jack (bbc, hbo i think) is a period piece about anne lister, the first modern lesbian in recorded history (a redundant phrase, but i once said she was the first lesbian in history and someone got mad at me) and her wife. fair warning: they have hair styles that make this almost impossible to watch, and it got cancelled after two seasons.
dickinson (apple tv) is another period piece about emily dickinson. she was very much a lesbian.
